Camp review, by Nicola.

The best thing we did on Monday was the luge, it was my first time and it was fun. My room at camp was warm and cosy. I learnt how to work a luge and that Auckland has a poo pond and you can drive up Mt Eden.
On Tuesday it was weird when Sam, Evianah and I talked to Salty Sam about washing our hair on a long sea journey.
On Wednesday I learnt that Western Springs is a man made lake that was made to get water to the people in Auckland and I learnt how to ice skate. So much happened that day that I just couldn't guess what would happen next.
Rangitoto was tiring, fun, different, rocky, steep and it had a beautiful view. Mrs Murphy looked after people when they got homesick, she was my favourite camp helper. Sam and Jemima were really cool too.

The camp musings of Ashalyn

If I could do anything twice it would be luging and ice skating because I got to go fast but I need more practise at ice skating. I loved sleeping at night on camp because I was so tired. Mrs Murphy was a great adult helper because she treated us like her own kids. I was proud of myself at Tree Adventures because I conquered my fear and it was fun doing different things there. It was funny when Tuesday clipped on the wrong thing, she was safe but stuck!
I really enjoyed going on the two planes at Whenuapai, it was fascinating.
Rangitoto was hot, boiling, hard, cold, tough, tiring, high and hurtful. I reached the summit and saw the refreshing water, when I reached the crater I squeezed the hot, tough rock in my hand and threw it into the crater and yelled, 'go down people of the mud!' just like in 'Under the Mountain'. The concert was hilarious, everyone won something.

Declan's opinions about camp.

Doug was the best adult helper on camp, he helped with the volleyball net.

My everlasting memory of camp was seeing a zomby (mummie). I really liked the races at the ice skating rink. I won.

The funniest thing that happened on Friday was when Mrs M got stuck in a barrel at Tree Adventures.

Walking up Rangitoto was long and boring. On the walk back down I rolled. I went to sleep behind my dad at the wharf while we waited for the ferry. The concert was funny with the mums doing a weird song.

Asia's camp ponderings.

On Thursday at camp I saw a spectacular volcano. Its lava that was frozen. It was like a moment in time that I felt in my hands. It seemed jagged and weird. It smelt like... old salty sea and fresh air but it was boiling.
The funniest thing that happened on Friday was Miss B being so scared at Tree Adventures, but she improved. It was funny when we pretended that we were escaping from Paremoremo prison. The best adult helper was Mrs Murphy because she showed 100% care to all of us.
Luging was the most fun thing ever, I would love to do it again. Everything was the best, but over all at the end the best thing was the BIG SLEEP because I was soooooooo tired.

Adam's camp

I loved the Sky Tower, it was so high. Going on an Air Force base was very cool too. It was hard walking up Rangitoto but on the way down it was better because we went into the lava caves, they were the best thing on the mountain. The camp concert was so funny. The dogs won!Tree Adventures was the best thing on the camp, I would like to go again.

Scott's camp reflections

Monday. The best thing about staying at Camp Maynard was that it had a cool confidence course. The crater of Mt Eden is really hard to get up, it's so steep.
Tuesday. I learnt amazing facts at the Sky Tower, when Caillan nearly set off the fire alarm was the funniest thing that happened today.
Wednesday. Mrs M fell asleep at the Star Dome! MOTAT and the Air Force base were fascinating.
Thursday. The whole day was amazing, Rangitoto and the concert. I came first in the concert! Friday. The Tip Top factory and the free ice cream were the best thing on Friday.
I would certainly go back to MOTAT again because of the trains. I want to live there!
Lennox, Jade and Adam were the best companions on camp because they were able to be trusted.
Mr Haley was a great adult helper because he took Mrs M, Mrs O'Brien and Evianah to the hospital.

Ben and the City of Sails

My everlasting memories of camp are the Sky Tower, Star Dome, ice skating, the luge, Tree Adventures and Tip Top.
On Wednesday I really liked the dogs at the Air Force base, they rock!
It was a struggle to get to the top of Rangitoto but it was worth it with the best view of Auckland, the islad looked animated and we had a nice lunch and rest.
The most peculiar thing that happened on Thursday was the concert, there were a lot of weird acts. It was funny and cool.

Lily's camp reflections.

The best thing that happened on Monday was the luge because it was fun and fast, I kept bashing into people. The best thing on Tuesday was going up the Sky Tower because I got to lean on the window. It is so high up. The funniest thing was when Andy fell asleep.
The most fascinating thing on Wednesday was the Star Dome, I learnt lots of things about the planets. The ice skating was fun to do again and it was slippery. MOTAT was cool because one of the rides sprayed water on me.
Thursday was very tiring but Rangitoto had a great view. I liked the boat ride. The camp concert was so funny.
On Friday I enjoyed the Tip Top factory because we got an ice cream.
I would go to the luge again if I could do anything twice. My favourite companions on camp were Mrs Murphy, Astyn, Astyn and Amy because they are so nice.

City of Sails camp a la Evianah

I learned a lot at the Memorial Museum, Maritime Museum and Sky Tower. The Air Force Base dogs were funny and so was watching Mrs Murphy fall asleep at the Star Dome (she says she was listening with her eyes shut and the chairs were too comfy). I loved the tactile dome at MOTAT. Then we went ice skating where I broke my arm.
Thursday Today I had my operation, they had to put me t sleep. I chose gas, it smelt funny, at first horrible like dirty feet then it changed like juicy sweet round oranges. It was 12am and I was tired so I shut my eyes. Then I quickly opened them as I didn't want the doctor to start operating on me when I wasn't properly asleep! After that all is forgotten. I woke up in a different room with a big heavy plaster cast on.
Mrs O'Brien was the best adult helper on camp. Sonny, Jed's mum, Mrs Murphy and everyone in my cabin were my favourite companions on camp.

Lucy's camp reflections

Andy Wallis (Estelle's dad) was my favourite camp helper because he helped us with the city scavenger hunt. The funniest thing that happened on Friday was when Tuesday clipped the wrong clip on when she went down the flying fox at Tree Adventures. She had to get pulled to the end. I challenged myself there. Most of all I would like to go ice skating again. It felt like I was flying as I skated along the slippery ice, I felt free as the blue ice rushed towards me.
Rangitoto description.
The sky blue sea swept out in front of me. Dotted green islands filled in the gaps. I heard children chattering and the waves crashing against the rocks. The Sky Tower catching the sun's rays towered above the city like the king of the beasts.

Stacey's comments about the City of Sails camp.

I learnt how to have patience on camp, especially when we went up the hill for the luge. T Star Dome was better than I thought it would be. Wednesday was so much fun, I had a blast. Ice skating was so cool!!!!! The Star Dome looked so real and MOTAT was one of the best, it was just a cool fun day.
Rangitoto erupted 600 years ago, I touched a volcanic rock which made me think 'this rock used t be so very hot and has come out of Rangitoto when it erupted, it went 100 feet up into the air and then landed on the ground and 600 years later I picked it up' and that is what I thought about.
Mrs O'Brien was a great helper on camp, she is a nurse which helped a lot and she is so funny.
My everlasting memories of camp are Evianah breaking her arm, ice skating, luge, Tip Top, the top of the Sky Tower, the ferry and Tree Adventures.
