Homework Week Two

Some superb homework was completed last week. The standout efforts came from Lily (Shakespeare quote!), Hamish, Lucy, Sally, Jay, Shannon and Adam. Stunning quotes and interesting detailed descriptions. Well done.

This week please complete the mandatory tasks at the front of your homework folder.

The times table focus is 8x.

Word study is to find the dictionary definitions for : tectonic, equator, eruption, destruction, longitude, latitude.

You can now have a rave. In a poem or in prose describe the house you would like to live in if you had all the money you needed. What would it be like?

There is a challenge for you this week only on the blogsite. A prize will be awarded to the first person to meet the challenge.
Great poetry uses vivid written images. A written image is an illustration in words. A famous New Zealand writer wrote many fine images in her short stories. Who is the author and which short story is the following extract from?
"The far-away sky - a bright, pure blue - was reflected in the puddles, and the drops, swimming along the telegraph poles, flashed into points of light."
From the same story " A goldfinch flew over the shepherd's head and, perching on the tiptop of a spray, it turned to the sun, ruffling its small breast feathers."
Good luck!
